Information for Library Guests Although the Burritt Library principally serves the information needs of CCSU students, faculty, and staff, we are open to the public. Visitors may use library materials and resources within the library building and may apply for borrowing privileges. The information that follows explains the privileges extended to library visitors.
Guest borrowing privileges at the CCSU Library are available to Connecticut residents who are over 18 years of age and out of high school. A valid Connecticut driver's license must be presented when applying for a card. Upon application, a card will be mailed to you within five (5) working days. Cards will not be issued to anyone who has outstanding Library or University charges. Please note: NO CARDS WILL BE ISSUED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. Loan periods for materials / Circulation Policy Loan period: CONSULS Resource Sharing / Interlibrary Loan Guest borrowers do not have CONSULS Resource Sharing or Interlibrary Loan privileges. Guest borrowers with public library cards must utilize their town libraries to obtain Interlibrary Loan services. Most computers in the building require a CCSU BlueNet ID for logon; however, there are a few Citrix terminals on each floor that do not require a logon. These public access terminals have Internet access and the full complement of subscription databases and E-journal collections. Visitors and guest borrowers may use subscription databases, etc. within the library but are not entitled to remote access. Visitors may photocopy library materials or print from computers in the building. The cost for both services is .10 per page. Since there are no coin-operated copiers in the building, visitors must purchase a guest BlueChip card from the vending machine located on the Main Level of the building to pay for printing and photocopying.
