Information for Faculty In addition to borrowing materials from the library's circulating collection, we offer faculty a number of services and resources to tailored to their pedagogical and research needs. The information that follows explains the privileges extended to CCSU faculty. Borrowing and Loan Periods for Library Materials
Most materials circulate to faculty for the duration of one semester. Renewals
are available from one semester to the next and items may be renewed by mail or
online from the Burritt Library homepage. Material is subject to recall, if
requested by another library user, after two weeks. Items in certain high use
categories, such as videos circulate for one week only and cannot be renewed.
Borrowing From Other Academic Libraries The CCALD/CLC Reciprocal Borrowing Program The Council of Connecticut Academic Library Directors (CCALD) is a statewide consortium of academic library directors, working together to improve services and access to resources through cooperation. Connecticut academic libraries enrolled in CCALD/CLC Reciprocal Borrowing Program have agreed to extend full borrowing privileges to faculty and staff of other participating institutions. Participants agree to all the terms in the Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement. Interlibrary Loan is the document delivery service that supplies most library
materials not owned by Elihu Burritt Library to CCSU library users.
Reciprocally, this service also supplies books and photocopies to other
libraries for the use by their patrons. For more information of Interlibrary Loan or to submit a request for materials, please see the

Logging into your library record allows you to view what books you have checked out, renew books, place holds and access subscription databases and e-journals at home. For more information on logging into your library record follow this link. Printing, Photocopying and Scanning Photocopiers located in the serials workroom on Stack 7 are available for faculty use free of charge. Please visit the Information Desk on the 4th floor or the Reference Desk (3rd floor) to obtain access to the room. Laser printing in the library is also provided without charge. Please see a reference librarian or other library staff on duty (2nd-4th floors) to release print jobs from the queue. In addition to laser printing and photocopying, we have a digital sender that allows library users to easily convert paper black and white and color documents to digital formats (.pdf, .jpg, or .tif) and send via e-mail. It is equipped with a 50 sheet auto document feeder as well as a flatbed scanner. Use of the digital sender, which is located on the 3rd floor of the library next to the laser printer, is free of charge. Recommending Titles for the Library/Subject Liaisons Faculty should normally send requests for materials via the library liaison in their department. If a faculty member wants to suggest just
one or two items, the request can be sent using the
Request Books for Purchase
link in the CONSULS library catalog or by submitting the request to the either the
Collection Development or the Acquisitions librarian. Rush Cataloging Service Any CCSU faculty, staff or student interested in borrowing circulating library material that has not been cataloged and appears in the library catalog as “1 copy being processed for CCSU stacks,” may fill out the form to request rush processing. Requests for rush processing will be fulfilled in the order of their receipt. You will be notified via e-mail when the item is available, and it will be held at the Circulation Desk (Main Level) for 10 days under your name. By logging into Central Pipeline with your BlueNet ID and clicking the “Library Digital Resources” link, the library’s subscription databases and E-journals collections will be available to you off-campus. You can also access library subscriptions directly from the Burritt Library homepage. When you click on any of the databases links, a new window will open asking you for your CCSU BlueChip Card ID number and CONSULS PIN code. If you’ve never set a PIN code, instructions for doing so are available on the login page. The PIN code can be any combination of letters and numbers. You should select one that is easy to remember, but difficult for others to guess.
The purpose of the Reserve Room is to assist the teaching faculty by providing a
facility in which there is Introductions to the library's resources and databases are
